The Ice of Cadia

Commission Project

The Ice of Cadia is an ongoing Astra Militarum project spanning an entire regiment - consisting of a wide range of characters, infantry, and a very strong armoured vehicle column.

This project initially began as an extension of the Tempestus Scions Militarum commission, but gradually grew into the main focus. Over time, I’ve built a strong friendship with the client, and we’ve even traveled overseas several times to meet in person.

Anatu Prime is home to brutally cold arctic climates and, much to the 501st’s misfortune, is exactly where their mission on the planet takes place. They endure the harsh conditions evident by their flushed red noses and cheeks.

Cadia Stands

A few of the different phases of the Cadian project - one large phase is missing from this section as I did not take a group photo before shipping it.

Cadian Castellan

The current leader of the 501st regiment - The Ice of Cadia. Model was built by the client.

Commissar

The 501st’s resident political officer - I’d love to do another one some day!

Cadian Command Squad

Lovely kit. I wanted the standard bearer to look like he had just punched someone’s face in. The squad was built by the client.

Goliath Mobile Command Vehicle

Converted from the GSC Goliath truck and various Cadian parts - it also uses a 3rd party satellite dish.

Kasrkin Squad

The start of The Ice of Cadia project - originally consisting of just this Kasrkin Squad as a Killteam. I have very fond memories of working on these guys.

Cadian Shock Troopers

The bread and butter of any Cadian regiment. The models were built by the client.

Rogal Dorn Battle Tank

A lovely kit, with lots of room for decals. This is probably the most amount of studs I have ever built on a single miniature, but it was worth it. The model was built by the client.

2 Field Ordinance Batteries

Lots of fun - I’d love to do more of these. The models were built by the client.

6 Armoured Sentinels

One model was converted by me which involved cutting open the top of the cockpit, and used a mixture of Cadian and Krieg bits for the pilot shouting directions. Unfortunately I don’t have group photos of all of Armoured Sentinels completed. Some of the models were built by the client.

6 Scout Sentinels

One model was converted to have the pilot reaching out to drop an ammo crate to an awaiting gunnery-sergeant. Once again I don’t have group photos of all of them together. Some of the models were built by the client.

Anatu Prime Diorama Display Plinth

Built using an old headphone display stand from a store, a bunch of large slate pieces, and some 3d printed Tyranid terrain.
