Space Marines

The Emperor’s finest - the Adeptus Astartes. This is a collection of Space Marines I’ve painted over the years which don’t warrant their own project pages.

Most are one-off models to try out new ideas - there are also a couple Kill Team sized projects.

You’ll find a mix of different scales here, along with some third-party miniatures. Some of the models have been stripped and repainted over time, while others have found new homes through giveaways.

I’ve sorted the projects alphabetically so it’s easier to find what you’re looking for.

The Black Templars

The first Space Marine Hero series 1 model and the first black metal Astartes I ever painted. This guy was the inspiration for my 4th Company Dark Angels.

The Blood Angels

A few of Sanguineous’ sons from over the years. Most of these are from when I was still trying to replicate the ‘Eavy Metal style - it took forever and made me miserable.

The Crimson Fists

My first Crimson Fist model. I’d love to do some Firstborn Fists one day - maybe as Rogue Trader dooders. I tried some experiments with fairy lights in the background of these photos - not something I’ve done since, but I’d like to try that again.

The Dark Angels

Some Dark Angel experiments. A Primaris 1st Legionnaire, which led me to the Rogue Trader beaky marine, which led me to the 4th Company. There’s also a classic 40k Firstborn.

The Dark Angels Aeronautica Imperialis Stormraven

A diorama made from cork for the asteroid, and pieces of plasterboard for the backing. The stars were made by a friend by flicking bits of white, yellow, and red paint over black card.

The Dark Angels Tortuga Bay

First Legion Horus Heresy Astartes. The bodies are from Tortuga Bay - and the rest of the bits are plasic / resin Games Workshop bits. This was during my “I’m not keen on Primaris, but Firstborn are too smol for me” era. They have since been sold.

The Deathwatch

Another early attempt at weathered black metal Astartes. I love the Deathwatch Killteam kit - tons of great bits. I want to make a 4th Company squad using them one day.

The Grey Knight

The Grey Knight Terminator was the first model I ever tried OSL on. I’d love to do some more Grey Knights one day - I think they still have some life in them I’d love to tease out.

The Hands Of The Emperor

These guys have a special place in my heart as they were my first weathered silver project - which led to all my future weathering projects. They’re made up of almost exclusively Space Marine Heroes from series 1 and 2 - as well as a Rhino, and a Primaris Lieutenant which I made for a friend. The golden hand was a brass cut out stencil. All of the Terminators have been stripped of their paint and repurposed into my Dark Angels army. These are also some of my earliest photos that I posted to my Instagram, while I was still at around 60 followers.

The Imperial Fists

A few yellow tests I did to see how painting an Imperial Fist army would be. The red eyes don’t contrast enough for me with the yellow spot source - but I really like the blue.

The Red Scorpions

A singular Space Marine Heroes set 1 mini. I found the grey to be a bit too flat, so if I were to try another I would need to rethink the scheme.

The Salamanders

The goodest boys. I like the tone of the green a lot, but I think it would need to be a bit less drab if I were to do more.

The Sons of Horus

A couple test models I did primarily to play about with the different off-greens of the Sons of Horus. I prefer the Beaky Marine to the Tortuga Marine’s green. I wanted the Beaky Marine to feel Loyalist-era, and the Tortuga to feel Traitoris-era - maybe it’s even the same Astartes.

The Space Wolves

An intro Warhammer store Primaris Inferno Marine, and maybe my favourite Primaris model? This guy was painting for the winner of an IG giveaway - I like him a lot. Given the recent wave of new Space Wolf models, I can confidently say if I started a Primaris army - it would absolutely be a Space Wolf successor chapter.

The Ultramarines

A couple Ultramarines test models in two different styles - which I mostly did because I felt like I needed to see how my style works for the GW posterbois.

The White Scars

Painted for an IG giveaway winner. I was extremely happy with how this guy came out. White isn’t easy, but I think I did quite well considering I don’t have much experience with it.

Santa Space Marine

A Christmas present for my mum - which now lives inside a little glass jar on her mantlepiece. The hat, stocking, and parcel were all made with greenstuff.
